IMPORTANT CHANGE TO BROADCAST E-MAILING PROGRAMS: PLEASE READ

Because of the large number of broadcast e-mails being sent from this server, it has been given a "POOR" rating by AOL; i.e., AOL is perceiving it as either a spammer or a server with a large number of failed deliveries. This means that some or most e-mails to AOL are not getting through, whether they are from broadcast e-mails or not (this affects you if you simply have redirects to AOL addresses set up for either your e-mail accounts or your application/contract/shelter form forwards). Therefore, starting immediately, you must use a different outgoing server in order to send broadcast e-mails. The information required is the same as you use to set up outgoing mail in your e-mail client (Outlook, Eudora, etc.) and includes:
  • SMTP server (for example, mail.MyISP.com)
  • Port number (a number, usually 25 but can be anything)
  • Whether or not your ISP requires an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) connection for outbound mail
  • The user name (usually your e-mail address) and password you use to connect to your ISP's outbound mail server
  • This information can be entered by clicking "SMTP Settings" at the right edge of the main menu.

This change does not affect the automated e-mailing of applications; you can leave this info blank if you do not use the broadcast e-mailing program.

To ensure delivery of other mail (both automated and forwarded), it's best to temporarily remove any and all AOL addresses from (a) any automated e-mailing program within the system (e.g., the address to which completed forms are sent), and (b) redirects/forwards on your RescueConnection e-mail accounts.
